A Mischievous Poltergeist

A janitor at the Communications Building of Ateneo de Manila University completed cleaning the second-floor lavatories and was about to lock up when a security guard asked if he could urinate, the janitor agreed.

When the security guard was relieved, the janitor went back and was surprised to see the walls and floors filled with streaky hand impressions made from the human muck. Irritated, he went down to confront the security guard who was oblivious.

The security guard scratches his head in disbelief and turned his back to avoid a confrontation, the janitor was shocked to find a handprint at the guard’s white uniform.

The Communications Building is rumored to be haunted, most classes were moved to the Social Sciences Building.

On-the-job Training

This story I'm going to tell happened December 2011. I am an intern at one of the hotel in Makati (I'm not going to tell what hotel but I'm going to tell the location for you to guess... This is located at Chino Roces Ave. Makati, near the Walter Mart and a school. I don't know if the hotel is newly built but it seems so since there are floors under construction at that time. If some of you would asked why I am an intern in that hotel, it's because I am a BSHRM graduate. After I graduate I just realize that it's not what I want. Anyway that's another story.

Brown Hotel Signage

I spent my OJT together with my 5 classmates and they're from different schools too. Our time of work was shifting also. But this story happened during my morning shift. We have rounds of work. This day you will be in the kitchen and mini restaurant, the other day you do housekeeping. When I was assigned at housekeeping, there's no eerie feelings. Sometimes I was alone in a big room and nothing. The hotel staffs often scared us that there are ghost in the hotel. Like there's a mother and daughter roaming on hotel floors and a headless man... Stuff like that, but I didn't take it seriously.

My Father's Hometown

We also lived in my father's hometown at San Carlos City, Pangasinan from 1998-2000. The first house that we move in was demolished in 1998 because the government of Marikina have a project to make a road connecting Marcos Highway and C-5 road. They will build the highway on the riverside and have to remove the houses near the river because of the project. So my parents decided to stay in province shortly.

It was an old modern 2-storeys Spanish style house. Old modern because that was the style of the house after World War 2. Two floors which the first floor was made of stone/cemented and the second floor was made of wood. Spanish style because of the type of window at the second floor which was two sliding window that made of capiz. It was also creepy because of the oldness and the history of the house.
The house was facing east. On front was a vacant lot which also our garage with a big Jackfruit tree. After the vacant lot was the road and the river. The both side of the house were our neighbors' houses. At the back was a vacant lot with lot of trees such as Star fruit tree, Guava tree, a young Santol (cottonfruit) tree, Kamansi (breadnut) tree, Sugar Apple tree, Mango tree, Annatto tree, Plum/jocote tree, and my father and I also planted Banana tree.

The door was placed in the middle so upon entering the door, on your left was the staircase going up and on your right was the living and receiving area. Under the stair was our altar and next to it was a room which my aunt told us that our grandfather had died in that room. That room has no wall to separate the living room and we used curtain as a divider. That room was under the terrace. Near that room was a door connecting to the dining and kitchen. At your left was an old glass shelf used to put our plates and glasses. The right part was the round dining table and next to the shelf was a door connecting outside. Next was the sink with a jar of water then the stove which composed of gas stove on the right and charcoal stove on the left.

The Caretaker

I used to see ghost and other entities since I was a child. But I really don't want them bugging me because I am scared, really scared. But somehow, they don't quit.

Here's the latest...We've just moved in this house last year. Actually, we don't have plans of moving out yet. But my friend keeps on pursuing me to get the next door. It was Nov. 11 of 2007. I already made some arrangements in the house. And of course, I always wanted my room to look cozy as always. We were all tired of unpacking our things. So we decided to go to sleep and finish the task first thing in the morning. I was lying on my bed, half asleep. And when I opened my eyes, I saw a woman wearing white watching me and shouting at me in the face. I was startled and blinked my eyes and then, she's no longer there. I thought of it as a dream. While everybody was fast asleep I was the only one awake.

Another incident was when I was about to go downstairs. I saw this woman going down. I thought it was my friend so I followed her around. But then again...she's gone. The stair is too steep and it has 20 steps and we're like 2 feet away and then she's gone?

The House On Tres Abril

This story happened when I was 12.

My family lived in Manila, then. And my eldest brother, a civil engineer, frequently goes to Cebu city for a construction project. After a month, he decided to rent a house - I can't remember the exact location - though, it is 15 minutes away by car from the city proper. I do remember that the street on which the house stood was named Tres Abril.

On the summer of 1980, I went to Cebu to attend a National Youth Camp sponsored by our church (we are from a protestant group.) My parents thought it would do me good to get there one week before the camp activities so I could get to visit the beaches, and the historic landmarks in the province. For a whole week, I was to stay with my brother in his house on Tres Abril.

The house was very comfortable and well ventilated. There were even plenty of trees within its compound, and I was seriously contemplating asking my father if I could transfer my studies to Cebu. I was an incoming High School Freshmen, and the change in environment could do me well. So, we went out for lunch, and my father and my older brother treated me to a little tour of the city. When we got home at around 5 in the afternoon, I was tired, and my legs felt like lead. I decided to sleep early. I woke up again at around 9 in the evening to an excruciating tummy ache. It felt like I was being stabbed, and I vomited several times. There was also the splitting head ache. After that, there was the shortness of breath, as if I was running out of air. I had never had an asthma attack, so my father was concerned. I was also crying. Dad said, I was "weeping."

Another Restroom Story

I was a freshman in college when this crazy thing happened.

One afternoon, I was in my Algebra class when I felt the need to use the restroom after drinking too much iced tea during our lunch break. I was literally dashing through the hallway to get to the restroom. Even when I was in a hurry, I clearly remember that there was no one inside the rest room. All the cubicles were empty. So after I was done I went to the sink to wash my hands and that's when I heard a voice from one of the cubicles. I thought that was odd because I didn't hear her enter the room. She was asking "Meron bang tao dyan?" (Is anyone there?). Then I asked her what's the problem and she told me she can't get out, the cubicle door was stuck.
The voice was coming from inside the furthest cubicle so I went there. I was already nudging the door when she said "Patulak naman ng pinto, bilis late na kasi ako may klase pa ko" (Can you please push the door, hurry up I'm late for my class). I irritably said "Oo eto na nga" (Okay,I'm already trying) because I was already prying it open. I tried hard, I did, but it wouldn't budge. I told her to make sure that the door is off the latch. Silence. Then she started banging the door. I thought, oh boy, she's really in a hurry to get out. Then the banging stopped. I felt a trickle of sweat roll down my forehead and I was like, okay fine, that's it, I'm going to break this ugly thing. So I asked her to move farther back because I'm going to kick the freaking door and I don't want her to get hurt. She didn't respond. I kicked the door anyway.

I kicked the door hard and it swung open. I was in for the surprise of my life. There's no girl. No one was there. I was staring at an empty cubicle. I was shocked, my mind was in a daze. I heard someone behind me said "Anong nangyari, anong nangyari sa pinto?" (What happened, What happened to the door?) It was the janitress. I told her I kicked it. She asked me why and my mind went into a trance once again. After that, she never asked again.

I was interrogated by the head of the maintenance department. It turned out that I badly broke the flimsy door and the hinges need replacements. I didn't want to sound stupid so I said I was looking for my wallet, it's lame but it's all I could think of. They didn't seem to believe my story but they cut me loose anyway.

After I got out of the office I was heading towards my friends when the janitress approached me. She reminded me of the incident again, she said she heard me talking to someone when she was near approaching the rest room. I knew she didn't believe the wallet alibi. She looked at me in a very weird way and said "Wag mo nang sabihin sa iba, matatakot lang sila" (Don't tell anyone, you'll just scare them).

I'll bet all the money in my real wallet, she knew.

Construction Worker

As a call center worker of three years, I have been guilty of what others might call "call center hopping" This story takes place during my work for my third call center in Davao. Callbox is located in the Landco Building which has been known for its ghost stories.
During breaks, we like to hang out in the fire exit. Most of my friends and co workers sneak out there to smoke cigarettes and we normally enjoy a good laugh about clients in there. One night, we were noisier than usual and having taken our usual spot on the base of a set of stairs facing the fire exit door, which was halfway open at that time. That door opened into a dimly lit corridor which had a dead end. Given that this was 2 in the morning, we didn't expect anyone to be there. My friends and I were discussing the recent elevator scare that left one of my co-workers going up and down from the second floor to the seventeenth floor and upon reaching the 17th floor the elevator would go on a free fall and stop on the second floor and start its climb again, we discussed his scary ride which lasted for 45 minutes. What was weird about this was that building engineers checked the elevator and there was nothing wrong with it.

My co worker threatened to sue the building but they still stood by their findings that nothing was wrong with the equipment. Our discussion became noisier than usual and I who was positioned beside the half open door, noticed movement. I looked just in time to see a man splattered in what I thought was paint glide by. It took me half a minute to step out of the door and into the corridor, again just in time to see the man disappear into the wall. No one but me saw it, so I rejoined my group and said to my friends that it was getting late and we should return to our stations. They agreed and we headed up.

7th Floor

Way back 2007, I worked at the 7th Floor, MCC Steel Corporation as a Purchasing Assistant for about a week. Since the building is very old, I have heard so many stories about the ghost who haunts the whole department. On the third day of my work, during lunchtime I went to the Comfort Room, it was big and it has 4 cubicles. I chose the fourth cubicle. The moment I closed the door, I heard a FLUSH coming from the first cubicle.
It was really weird because I haven't seen anyone who entered the CR with me. Besides, if someone entered right after me, I would hear the door opens because it was really heavy. So, I went out and checked the first cubicle and no one was there, the scary part was, when I saw the water from the toilet bowl drained down like if someone FLUSHED the toilet. It scared the hell out of me and I ran as fast as I could. After that incident, I never went to the Comfort Room on that floor. This was one of the reasons why I quit the job.
My officemates told me that the 7th floor specially the Comfort Room was haunted by a ghost lady. Some employees including me saw a blood on the water tank. Even the reliance of the building was scared every time she went to the 7th floor and cleans the whole area. She said that she heard so many things and you would have a very eerie feeling when you're alone on that floor, even daytime. We were not really sure what is the reason behind all the haunting. All I know is I don't want to go back there!

Thank you for reading.

De Lasalle University

The story I was about to tell is you is not mine, but my sister's.

She worked as a photo shoot staff for different universities. During this time, she had so many student friends. One of these was a girl who died from choking during the photo shoot before the graduation day. On that night, she had to extend her working hours in the school just to finish arranging each of the photos for different colleges/courses. Around 7pm, all of the students on that department had left. She was alone.

While sitting on a big table with pile of pictures, her computer at the other corner of the room opened automatically and the graduation song played. She was horrified to think that she was alone in the room and she never turned on the multimedia player. She then went to the computer and turned it off. She went back to her desk and continued with her work.

After awhile, the computer again, turned on itself and played the graduation song. This time, she ran out of the room and went to the guard's station, reported the incident and went home. At the house, she realized that maybe the ghost who played the graduation song was the girl who died that day.
