Late Husband Communicating Through Old Vcr Tapes?

Good evening. I've spent much of my afternoon reading this site with interest and could not resist writing to you all (on this dark and rainy post-holiday evening). I've spent years noting to myself dozens of incidents that seem paranormal, but have only recently been curious enough to look around on the internet, and your site seems really legit -- caring and intelligent.

I'm an educated, grounded and stable individual, a Christian and former newspaper columnist, currently teaching and a mom of four great kids. I've lost many loved ones in my almost 60 years, but have always loved my life, felt quite strong and consider myself to be a happy warrior for my "causes." Guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm a busy, suburban mom, living near a large southern city but every now and then some compelling things happen and the mysteries of life compel me to seek out those who might know more than I do, on a topic I know little about (except for tv shows and a real appreciation for Dean Koontz novels).

A couple months ago I was finishing a basement cleanup that's dragged on for months. We live in a great suburban home, very bright and cheery, incuding the basement, which is more of a terrace level with windows everywhere and not creepy at all. I ran across a small box of VCR tapes that had not been transferred onto DVD and decided to take a look at them.

As background, I'll share that my first husband, a Marine aviator, passed away 26 years ago after a lengthy and serious illness, leaving behind two daughters, ages 2 and 3, and me. Over the years, I feel like he's found small ways to let me know he's still with us... Some of them are really fun, but I'll stick with this one thing. So I'm in the basement about 3 in the afternoon.

Middle schoolers (with my second husband) won't be home for a couple hours and I'm dying to see these videos from almost 30 years ago, one of which is titled, "Best Tape for Dad." I locate my 90s-era small tv with a built in VCR player and set it up on a chair. Sitting on the floor I put in the first tape and it's some great snow day footage of my daughters as toddlers with their Daddy, just charming (they're both grown and married career women now). I pull out my i-phone to take some snips to send to them at work (and to just have on my phone). I start noticing as I'm holding up my phone, taking video of the video, that in the phone camera there is a black line that pops up, not horizontal or vertical, but crossways like a slash through the screen. It's not on the TV or the video tape, just on my phone screen. I didn't think too much of it and kept taking videos of this tape in short segments.

Then I started to notice that the black slash only happened at certain moments in the video. Mostly it popped when the camera panned to my late husband, but also during closeups of a precious little face or another tender moment. I notice the black slashes on my phone seem to be appearing at moments of significance, and sometimes more dark black than others a moment later. I know so little about the technology, but I wondered if a spirit was trying to watch with me, whether they could take energy from the pixels or something, which would make the black area. As I watch the tapes, I start talking out loud a little bit, something I've done before at certain moments, and the black lines seemed to almost happen more as I narrate the tape just a bit, sort of remembering. (i.e. "Oh, here comes the snowball" as in the video he throws one in my direction).

Next thing I know, my middle schoolers were home off the bus, and I was upstairs telling my 8th grade son, a really smart kid about electronics and other things, about this black slash going through my i-phone video. I joked that I thought it might be some "ghost guy stuff" which is what we call it (based on my recent interest in Ghost Adventures-type programs, for which I get teased relentlessly by all my kids). So my son was intrigued and wanted to see this black line, and I wanted to show it to him, maybe for validation...

Or maybe hoping it would not be there when we went back down. So we did and I turned on the tape (sorry if this is getting boring) and there's the black slash on my i-phone again. How is it not on the tv or VCR tape? We discuss it, how it seems like there's a pattern to the line... Then as the tape is playing I suspect the line is actually popping up in response to my comments. I go way out on a limb and say, "OK, can you do an SOS?" (a military thing, haha) After which the black line flashes out _ _ _ __ __ __ _ _ _. (I might actually have that backwards). But we both were a bit amazed to say the least and reacted with big, "OH WOWs." The slash DID respond with an SOS! This is when you just blink and think, "Holy cow, is this SOMEthing? Or am I wishing/imagining/pushing it?"

Well, that's about it. I've not wanted to try it again since, something about not wanting to mess with things I don't understand. But has anyone ever heard about something like this? Also, when I viewed some of the video snips on my computer, which has a large screen, there were some places in the videos that I feel I could see... My late husband's likeness. And all I can say on that is, I think I've gotten pretty good at seeing ghosts in photos (stories for another day perhaps).

Thank you for letting me share this. I know about EVPs, so it seems like if you can catch a ghost in a photo, positive imaging, then what I got was some kind of negative imaging... Or a portion of the picture was just not relayed... Maybe this is easily debunked? I'm wide open to all thoughts. I understand I can upload a photo at some point, which I'll do if possible.

Monorail Ghost (Disney Urban Legends and Ghost Stories)

The monorail is great for those who are trying to hop from park to park, but the death stories that are linked to the monorail are plenty and sad. One unfortunate story about a monorail death is about a boy who was just about to graduate high school and made a poor decision on the monorail. One night, he tried to sneak into the park by running along the monorail track, thinking it was the safest way for him to achieve his mission, but when security spotted him, he took off running and was unfortunately killed by an oncoming monorail. Visitors and staff of Disney report that they continue to see his spirit running along the track of the monorail.

Dolly’s Dip (Disney Urban Legends and Ghost Stories)

Dolly Young was enjoying her trip to Disney and was loving every single ride she went on. She enjoyed the thrill of them and wanted to experience as much as she could while she was there. In 1980, though, she went on the famous Matterhorn ride and was horrifically killed on the ride as she was thrown out of her bobsled and killed by the oncoming one. People who investigated her death are still questioning whether she intentionally unbuckled her seat belt and fell off of the ride or if her belt malfunctioned, making her meet her unfortunate death. Cast members, though, claim they have seen her spirit and that she still lingers around the ride to this day. People have reported that they hear strange sounds as they do their final walk throughs of the ride after the parks close at night and others report that they refuse to go near the entire area of the ride.

Haunted Mansion Heart Attack (Disney Urban Legends and Ghost Stories)

Yep, you guessed it. Another story circulating The Haunted Mansion. Are you that surprised, though? This is the most ghost filled attraction, of course, and has the ashes of loved ones spread around it. However, tourists of Disney claim that Disney tries to hide the hundreds of deaths that occur there to keep up the good reputation it has. According to a rumor, a man became so scared of the Haunted Mansion ride that he sadly suffered a heart attack and died before the end of the ride. People started to speculate and believe that he is now a permanent “guest” at the mansion and that he lurks around the halls.

The Woman in White (Disney Urban Legends and Ghost Stories)

It appears that in every region of this world, there is always a woman in white waiting for her next victim to scare. People have claimed and reported that they see a woman in white throughout the parks and say she is benevolent. Some of the stories circulating this woman in white is that she is spotted along Main Street where she helps children who become lost find their way to Guest Services so their families can find them. Even though people are afraid of ghosts and get easily scared by them, this particular woman in white seems to offer a helping hand to those in need at Disney.

Actual Human Remains In The Haunted Mansion (Disney Urban Legends and Ghost Stories)

PropellerAds
Yes, you read that correctly. There is a rumor that there are actual human remains in The Haunted Mansion ride. People are familiar with waiting in line and passing a graveyard as they enter the ride, but no one knows that human remains are just ahead of them. The rumor was turned into a fact because people admitted that they would go on this ride and spread the cremated ashes of loved ones along the track of the ride. They said they did this because they wanted to give the ride the infamous 1,000th ghost. People who work on the ride tell the passengers to not do this because of the clean up they have to do, and well, it’s just down right creepy. People who do this, though, ignore what the ride operators say and over the past few decades people continue to say goodbye to their loved ones while they ride through The Haunted Mansion.

MOBILE LEGENDS

Hello! I'm a big fan of YourGhostStories site, I've been reading stories her for three years and this is my first time sharing my own story. Hope you enjoy!

One night after dinner (7PM), I got bored from scrolling through my social media feeds so I decided to turn on the TV while my Dad was also busy using the desktop-- just googling random stuff. As soon as I turned on the TV, the KMJS (Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho) show appeared. The show was about a guy whose health has deteriorated due to an unhealthy lifestyle, one factor that caused it was due to his mobile game addiction called "MOBILE LEGENDS"-- it is a multiplayer online battle arena mobile game that has become popular in Southeast Asia. It really is very famous and is still widely played by the majority to the point that it's almost abnormal if you don't play it (I don't play it though; Youtube is lifer for me haha).

Mobile Legends Bang Bang: Mobile Legends Heroes ...

This guy (the one from the KMJS show) was too hooked up on his screen all day causing him to eat only once a day. This unhealthy routine went on for two years which eventually gave him numerous bad effects on his health ushering him to the worst situation no one would ever wanted to be in-- to be diagnosed with cancer. In his case, it was colon cancer. DISCLAIMER! I'm not trying to say that the "Mobile Legends" game can cause cancer, it's just that his accumulated bad habits (caused by his mobile game addiction) such as countless sleep-deprived nights and unhealthy eating patterns were two of the factors that had contributed to the worsening of his physical condition.

My Dead Aunt

This story happened a few years back as 2010 and has been told by my other tita, which is my dad's first cousin.

We are residing in Bacolod City, the City of Smiles. This city is being heralded as the most liveable city by experts in the Philippines due to its affordable lifestyle and rising infrastructure.

My Dad's cousin, Diday, is known to have a third eye. She can see dead people even if the person had died several years ago. One day, our other aunt in Manila, Tita Reri, passed away due to illness. It was around 2000 or so, I'm not so sure I'm not good at dates, unfortunately.

Aunt Reri lived with our other aunt, Tita Fally, together with her family before she went to Manila to stay with our other aunt, Tita Kashmir. They're all siblings, they're around 9 of them but the 2 siblings died when they were young. Our Aunt Diday is staying at our Tita Fally's house.

One night, when they were all asleep, Tita Diday heard a voice of a woman, like talking to herself. She sounded like she's angry or something and Tita Diday paused a bit to locate where was this voice came from. Tita Fally's house is a two-story house, all of their bedrooms are upstairs with a living room at the center on the second floor. Then, there's a cabinet owned by Tita Reri which is locked with all of her personal belongings inside.

The sound that Tita Diday heard was from the second-floor living room and the woman sounded like she's looking for something inside the cabinet. Tita Diday stood and checked by opening the door from their bedroom and found a woman dressed like our beloved Tita Reri. Tita Diday froze a few seconds when she saw the woman and quickly went back to bed, covers herself with a blanket and prayed until the voice was gone.

This story always sends a shiver down my spine when I remember it. Actually, I felt goosebumps while I'm writing this.
